The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) celebrated a significant milestone with its 2023 congress, hosted in October at Telford International Centre.
In its 50th year, the BVNA Congress welcomed 1,200 delegates with the support of its longstanding partner, Telford International Centre. Collaborating with the venue’s in-house services including event production team, StagecraftUK, the BVNA reimagined the exhibition, breakout and conference spaces for veterinary nurses to learn and network.
To deliver the extensive programme of scientific learning, with over 120 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) content and more than 100 seminar and lectures, Telford International Centre’s flexible Ironbridge and Beckbury suites were divided to allow for several concurrent learning streams. StagecraftUK also provided stand management services, power, and lighting across the three-day exhibition.
Lisa Brett, Events Manager at BVNA said: “The BVNA Congress is really special, and nothing beats the community feel of bringing veterinary nurses together. The event is all about sharing best practice, so having appropriate spaces to do that is essential. We’ve always opted to host the event in the Midlands because it’s accessible for everyone, but Telford became our venue of choice because it has everything under one roof.
“Other venues just don’t have the structure we need, and if I had to describe the experience at Telford in one word, it’d be ‘complete’. The service at Telford is fantastic, I’d even say it’s five-star. From the catering teams to our event managers, everything is always top-notch and exactly as we would want from a venue.”
Telford International Centre’s food and beverage team also delivered a fine-dining experience for the gala dinner hosted on the second evening of the three-day event.
Charlotte Pace RVN, President of the BVNA said, “Having the event here is a real privilege because we’ve got everything we could ever need. We have our exhibition, lecture halls, seminar rooms during the day, and the space is transformed for the gala dinner. The fact it’s literally a few steps away from the hotels is an added bonus. It’s absolutely perfect for what we want to achieve.”
The annual event is the only one of its kind in the veterinary industry, dedicated solely to student nurses, registered veterinary nurses (RVN) and those interested in becoming one. Attracting 50 attendees when it began in 1973, Telford International Centre has facilitated substantial growth, with 2023 marking the 12th anniversary of the partnership.
Alison Griffin, Managing Director at Telford International Centre said, “Our congratulations to the BVNA for celebrating their 50th Congress year. We are certain they will continue to go from strength to strength with the events they run. What stands out for me is the depth of our working relationship – it really is the equivalent of welcoming dear friends to the venue each year and a business partnership we very much cherish”.
