Caroline Roney becomes Honorary Member
17 March 2004
Caroline Roney, former Chair ( 1991-1993) and a founder member of ABPCO was recognised for her contributions to the Association by being granted Honorary membership when she retired from actively organising conferences. Caroline had combined running her own medical conference company with her involvement in developing education and training programmes for conference organisers. Together with Joy Gardner they designed and administered the HNC in Business (Conference & Event Management) course which has been running successfully at the City of Westminster college London, since 1997. On retiring, Caroline published her thoughts on Conference Organising, Changes in 30 years – this retrospective view provided some interesting and humorous industry anecdotes looking back when delegate registrations were filed on a card index system, computers were in their infancy, there were no fax machines, very few back up conference services and audio visual technology consisted of 35mm slide projector and an OHP.
