Glasgow Brain Health Awareness Day, Saturday 28 May
23 May 2022
At the end of May, Glasgow will host ‘BRAIN and BRAIN PET 2022’, a prestigious international conference focusing on brain health and function.
Glasgow Convention Bureau has been working with the conference organisers in recent months to help take the subject matter beyond the walls of the conference venue and into the local community. The team connected the organisers with Brain Health Scotland; Glasgow City Council’s Education team; Network Rail and Buchanan Galleries to arrange a variety of events aimed at helping people to better understand how making healthy choices affects our brain.
The team recently worked with artist and neurologist Dr Lizzie Burns and young people from six Glasgow schools to create models representing brain health. There will be a Glasgow Brain Health Awareness Day on Saturday 28 May at Glasgow Central Station and one of the city’s major indoor shopping centres featuring brain health activities for families of all ages, including the chance to ‘build-a-brain’ and make your own neurons. At Glasgow Central Station there will be a giant inflatable brain that locals can walk inside, creating a fun way to engage and inform the public.
The day is being supported by Brain Health Scotland and Alzheimer’s Scotland. Ahead of then, locals can find out how healthy their brain is by using this interactive brain health quiz.
