Rail Delivery Group Launches Refreshed Green Travel Data to Promote Sustainable Journeys

Rail Delivery Group (RDG) has launched an updated version of its Green Travel Data (formerly the Green Travel Pledge), aimed at helping businesses and travellers make greener travel choices.

The refreshed platform features a new brand identity, an easy-to-use online carbon calculator comparing rail, car, and air travel emissions, and a significantly expanded dataset covering both business and weekend leisure travel across nearly all direct rail routes in Britain.

RDG’s data shows rail travel produces lower carbon emissions than petrol or diesel cars on 85% of routes - representing 93.76% of total passenger journeys.

Organisations are encouraged to embed the carbon calculator on their websites to highlight the environmental benefits of rail. A new kitemark logo is also available for use when promoting the calculator or referencing Green Travel Data.
