‘Changing The Menu. For Good’ is a pioneering project by Visit Belfast and Belfast tourism industry to raise funds and supplies for those experiencing food poverty in the city whilst delivering more responsible and sustainable events.
Since the launch 18 months ago, Visit Belfast, event organisers and the tourism sector have worked together and raised more than £28,000 for food banks and homeless charities, harnessing the power of business events that take place in the city. Changing the Menu. For Good has helped to raise awareness about the issues surrounding food waste and food insecurity while positively impacting behaviour change and practices within the events industry. The funds raised have provided the equivalent of 22,788 meals to date. It is also a ‘multiple problem solver’. It meets the needs of event organisers and corporates who want to deliver more responsible and sustainable events while enabling the most vulnerable in the community to receive practical support during the cost-of-living crisis.
Join Jac Callan - Senior Manager - Sustainability and Impact at Visit Belfast and Corinne Weatherup, Managing Director - the event-ful consultancy as they discuss this initiative and how the learnings can be replicated for conferences in any destination.
