Conference Management education
09 April 1997
The next stage involved negotiations with Universities and Colleges to get the syllabus accepted and become part of either a degree or higher education course. In April 1997 the City of Westminster College in London showed serious interest and after encouragement and advice from the tutors at the College and considerable re-writes, the Faculty of Business, Management and Social Studies at the University of Westminster agreed to incorporate the Conference Management Unit, as it was then known, into their existing Higher National Certificate in Business. It was also agreed that the course could be conducted by ABPCO members. The course ran since September 1997 and since 1999 was validated in its own right. It now carries the title BTEC Higher National Certificate in Business Studies (Conference Management).
